Hair We Go – The Lockdown Hairstyles Making Headlines in Wembley
Let’s have a bit of Thursday fun in Wembley with this look at what lockdown is doing to people’s hairstyles and ideas on how to cope without your regular haircut.
When Denmark entered from lockdown this week where did hordes of the dashing Danes head to?
The pubs? – maybe. The coffee shops? – perhaps. The barbers or hair salons? Definitely.
Danish barbers and hairdressers reported record numbers of people flocking to get their post lockdown locks sorted out.
And people across social media in Wembley have been reporting similar tails (see what we did there?) of overgrown mops weighing them down.
Some brave ‘have a go’ heroes have even attempted a bit of hair DIY with often traumatic looking results.
With that in mind, we’ve come up with five classic haircuts for the good people of WEMBLEY to consider cultivating while we have at least another fortnight under lockdown.
Just for Men
Mullet Mania - In at number one, it must be the marvellous mullet. Simply shave the sides of your head, let the back grow and voila – you’ll be looking like a celeb. Unfortunately, that celeb would be Billy Ray Cyrus circa 1992 or for Netflix fans Joe Exotic from The Tiger King.
Comb Over Classic – There’s no Match of the Day on now so why not create your tribute to one of our country’s biggest sporting icons Sir Bobby Charlton? In his footballing pomp, he sported a comb-over Donald Trump would be proud of. Do it for Sir Bobby.
Check out the Buns – Getting a little untidy at the back? Get creative and bake yourself a man bun. This hairstyle was popular more than 2000 years ago during the Chinese Han Dynasty. Maybe it would have been better just leaving it there.
Lovely Ladies Locks
The internet is also awash with ideas of hairstyles women can try during this period of social distancing.
Bowled Over – Perhaps the most straightforward haircut of all. Simply place a medium-sized bowl over your head, grab some scissors and cut carefully around it. Job done, potentially badly.
Turn Over A New Page – The page boy look is one which takes courage and care to pull off well. Disclaimer. There is a chance if you get it wrong you could end up looking like Wee Jimmy Krankie.
Alternatively, you could just think to hell with hair. There’s a lot more to be concerned about than your Barnet so maybe take this opportunity in isolation to secretly grow your hair out, up, and beyond (sorry, we got a bit Buzz Lightyear there).
At Grey & Co we like to let our hair down with the best of them, but we’re still working hard to make sure we’re a cut above the rest when it comes to helping people with property.
We hope you enjoyed this little bit of Thursday fun. And remember Stay at Home, Protect the NHS, Save Lives and keep loving Wembley.
Take care out there x.
